Pico Ruivo, Ribeira Frio en de levada Ribeira Janela
The climb on the Pico Ruivo from the parking place,
not difficult to do as you can see the path.
The Pico Ruivo is the highest top of Madeira, 1862 m.
A view on another top, the Pico do Arieiro,
just before my camera gave up.
Miradouro from the Ribeira Frio
This kind of bird one often find in the mountains, here they were very tame.
De levada Ribeira folows the river Janela.
Here the start with the national flower of Madeira on the foreground.
De eucalyptus trees are overgrown a climbing plant:
the false passion flower or maracuja, often seen in Madeira.
Levada's are old irrigation canals to bring the sweet water from the mountains to the coast.
Here the levada Ribeira Janela and the neighbourhood of Porto Moniz.
Although the waters streams down from the photographer, it seems to climb.
a view often seen on Madeira, here along the levada.
